NC Waterkeepers

The Waterkeepers Carolina organization is a member group of the Waterkeeper Alliance that is comprised of waterkeepers who strive to protect the waterways of North Carolina. Individual watersheds in the state of North Carolina are each assigned a “Riverkeeper” that serves as an ecological expert and educational resource for schools and local government. They also perform water quality testing, in addition to patrolling the waterways and reporting violations of water quality regulations to the appropriate regulatory agencies. Other tasks include organizing clean-up events and stream and shoreline restoration projects. To learn more, check out their website.
