Background
Established in 1976, the North Carolina State Climate office has been dedicated to providing climate-related services that support state, local, and federal agencies, businesses, and the citizens of North Carolina. For nearly five decades, this office has worked to deliver trusted expertise and resources that help communities understand and respond to the challenges of climate and weather in North Carolina.

The North Carolina State Climate Office is located in the Research III Building on the North Carolina State University’s Centennial Campus.

Data Collection and Tools

Climate Trends Plotter: View long‑term trends from stable stations with minimal local change.

The Community Collaborative Rain, Hail & Snow Network (CoCoRaHS) program was established on June 17, 1998, and has over 27,500 active observers. CoCoRaHS is a non-profit, community-based network of volunteers using low-cost measurement tools, with a goal to provide the highest quality data for natural resources, education, and research applications around the United States.
